Abstract

the case of ( alssahra ) is considered from the oldest dispute cases in the area, since such case is from the remnant of the cold war, also ASSAHRA crisis has became an area of dispute which attracted many forces of the countries, since the functions have been various as a mediator to solve the matter and as a direct supporter especially during the period of the cold war between the eastern camp and the western camp. During the collapse of the soviet union and appearing of the united states as a great one force, the case of ASSAHRA has been affected continually because of the geostrategic changing in the world, also because of the changing in the benefits of the great nations and the regional forces, since it is expected such these changing would be reflected on the Arabic area negatively. Thus, the USA became the more affected side in ASSAHRA case by exploited its international position and its international trusteeship on the dispute area by presenting the Settlement initiative ( baker project) which enhances negotiations of (MENHAST) in new York between the case sides which aims to reach to a solution, therefore this study aims to analyze the affects of ASSAHRA ( the western dessert ) , how the USA view such case and how the USA deal with it because it is one the the Arabic cases that has been given an attention widely during the changes that happened in the area.
